English in Action 2025
English in Action was a real challenge this year. 98 pupils took part, 60 third- and 38 fourth-formers. Mrs Alona Kovalchuk was in charge of the main organisation throughout the whole year. Thanks to her and the whole staff at school to arrange everything.
The children had six English lessons a day, full of language games, creating comicbook-stories and doing presentations about new inventions. On their last day they acted out plays as final shows.
Though the children didn’t always practice perfect grammar, they were having conversations with English native speakers. It was not AI that talked to our students. It was Jane and Stacey, Dale, John, Matt and Ben, who were not able to speak German. Our students seemed to enjoy speaking with them, face to face, without using a lot of digital equipment. Words and phrases they used during communicating with teachers, whose mother tongue was English, increased pupils` interest in other countries and cultures.
